SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a mere buzz for more than 75% of the websites owners and bloggers round the world. You might have received thousands emails claiming to get you site in Top 10 searches of prominent Search Engines like Google, Yahoo. MSN live Search etc. But the hard reality is none works until and unless you content is quality and relevant for search terms. I do not rule out the role SEO Consultants completely but a major portion of them use black hat techniques to get your website in top searches.

Use descriptive post title: THe Search Engines have a simple hierarchy of searching. the header or titles tags like h1, h2 etc.. are found first by the search engine in caching your post on their server. Moreover search engines search for the term you enter by starting from header only. SO the first notified technique for good SEO is to use large and relevant post titles so that your post is more visible while searching.

2. Avoid Content Duplication: This a major techniques which most of the people on internet tend to forget. One may be smart enough to copy and paste the content but search engine bots are smarter. As the content you copied from was indexed earlier, Search Bots can easily recoganise the which one is original. Having said that it does not mean that you can read others view on internet. But the nutshell is to express your own original point of view on that topic.

3. Avoid Keyword Stuffing: There was a buzz on internet about 2-3 years ago regarding Mesoltheloima being the highest paying keyword. SO many internet writers started writing their posts on this particular topic. But you must understand that the Search Engine Robots is a machine driven not human driven. The bots get confused so as to index which particular description, on the searh word if same word is appearing again and again.

4. Avoid Paid Posts and Links: You may call it the monopoly of Google that they always kick paid content. The real scene behind this one is that if your blog/website has some Page Rank than other blog/website which is new, would try to benefit from your Pagerank to get easy entry into Search Engines. PageRank is Google tool to measure the popularity of your blog/website (in terms of its links with other sites). As Google is the king of Search Engine Jungle, it is advised to stay away from paid blog posts and links.

5. Use No follow tags: Some of you might have been scared by reading the last point about Google penalizing links. But don’t worry much you can include your links in your posts by adding no follow tags with your link. By adding no follow tags you are declaring to the search bot that this link has not been put up for extracting pagerank advantage. In simple terms your website or blog is not following that link. This make it easy for search bots to recognize the nature of links and posts.
