The security breach is once again hitting the headlines at the start of calendar year 2010 and this time its of a very high magnitude. The cyber war has got into an ugly phase as at 20 other large companies from a wide range of businesses–including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors–have been targeted by Chinese Hackers.

Chinese Hacking Spree: Google and Indian Prime Minister Office Targeted
This staggering revelation has been officially brought up by Google on their Official Blog post (which can bee seen here). The road does not end here. Pas month the Chinese hackers also accessed critical information from Indian Prime Minister’s Office where hackers had aimed India’s national security set-up (reported by Indian media).
Google meanwhile has demanded explanation from the Chinese regime to take some major Action. Google has also threatened to shutdown its operation from China and seize google.cn (the Chinese search engine name of Google).
While all this drama unfolds the gmail team has taken a proactive measure by stepping up the https security for GMail. This may have come after some critical lost information allowed hackers to access the accounts of human right activists in China.
