Asbestos and Mesothelioma Guide: disease, prevention and cure

Introduction: Every things comes on this earth with its pros and cons. When the world had just stepped into fabric industry it met a miracle mineral called Asbestos. Being heat resistant and widely available asbestos is an automatic replacement for cotton. More so being resistant to chemical changes too it is also used in making lamp wicks and high tensile strength materials. But the inhalation of this mineral causes a deadly disease called Mesothelioma.

What is Mesothelioma? Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer in which asbestos attacks internal organs of the body with lungs being the worst effected. The most unfortunate thing in Mesothelioma is that it acts as a slow poison and an aggressive tumor. One may not get problems for years and suddenly it is takes one’s life away. As the lungs are attacked most by asbestos, so the most common symptoms are chest pain, difficulty in breathing, cough and bronchital problems. Other symptoms and signs for Mesothelioma are weight loss, blood in sputum, abdominal pain. Some case having blood clots, jaundice and low blood sugar also may lead up to Mesothelioma.

Treatment and Cure for Mesothelioma: For those who are Mesotheliomic need proper treatment. As the membrane over internal organs is affected so the doctors need to remove the upper affected cells. Conventional therapies have failed so trusting them is not advisable. Surgeries even fail to remove the Mesothelioma completely. Radiation therapy is often a treatment with risk in intself. Not only being expensive but exposure to radiation can even weaken other parts of body. Chemo and Immunotherapy have proved good but are too coslty. Immunotherapy boosts up the cell count reducing tumour to half. Also one has to go for follow up treatments.

To prevent Mesothelioma people working in Asbestos Industry need to get themselves checked properly at regular times to nail down it diseases. We at social, official and corporate levels of country need to make policies for regular check ups. Plus women at home should also wash clothes at home should remin alert. Asbestos dust can also enter them while washing. At last each one us has o act responsibly by guiding people working in Asbestos industry to reamin safe.
