isikhi: The iphone & ipod touch app for Gurbani Reading & Searching released

February 2nd, 2009 by Manpreet | Filed under apple, softwares.

Some months back there was Google search which redirected the searcher to this blog and term was “Gurbani on iphone”. Today I’m very happy to announce the release of isikhi: The first Gurbani (Reading and Searching) app for iphone and ipod touch.

isikhi_iphone_ipod_touchThere is a Microsoft Pocket PC version of SikhiToTheMax, but this one is the only other mobile search software which can been useful to read Gurbani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji(the living Guru of Sikhs) on the mobiles also. The features of iskhi are:

  • Works on iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iTouch devices
  • Search Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and view shabad(s) line by line with english translations
  • Search with either First Letters or First Letters Anywhere
  • Simple to install like any other iPhone application through App Store. No need to JailBreak your iPhone or any other modifications are required.

The makers of this app say that:

“iSikhi has finally released at Apple’s App Store and can now be downloaded to your iPhone and iTouch devices. We submitted the app to Apple for review on December 29th and it took almost a month for application to release. This was partly because of Apple’s slow review process and partly due to revisions we had to make since we’ve never released an app through Apple before. Nonetheless, the ice is broken and iSikhi is now available.”

You can directly download this iphone application from itunes. You can have a look at this demo video below to see how it works:
